I am back with another senses writing!!
Yesterday we had an experiment with RAW meat, crazy right?
Everybody had either a circulatory system ( the heart) or a excretory system ( the kidney).
I had the circulatory system ( heart)
Now today we had to make a document on what we saw, heard, smelt and tasted.

Holes Describing People.

This week we had to make two documents on describing people from the book Holes. By Louis Sachar.
We had to describe one of the characters, the Warden.  The Warden is an important character in Holes.
We had to make a mindmap on describing the Warden.

Skinny legs jumped out of the passengers side of the van. Cherry red fingernails clutched onto the side of the door handles. Ginger, curly hair bounced on her shoulders. Bright pink lips pursed together as she got out. Her eyes were like bright green emeralds, they had a nasty, evil glint in them. Jangling noises were heard as her gem bracelets banged on her wrists. The turquoise studded boots thudded on the hard ground as she slowly walked towards the holes.

Yesterday we did another experiment using Skittles.
We had to put some Skittles in a bowl, put water in the bowl and observed what happens.
When we put the water in the bowl all the colour from the Skittles drained out of it.
After that we had to choose a document to present the five senses. I chose to present it with a poem.

Using ideas from our senses to write Show not Tell sentences.

We are learning how to add description to our writing by including ideas from our senses and creating Show not Tell sentences. We made popcorn in class and got to hear, smell, touch, see and taste it. I presented my five senses in a Thinglink. Enjoy!!😃

Five senses writing

This week we had to do some individual writing. We had to choose a picture out of six pictures to write a story about. We had to include three senses to describe in my story.  I chose a winding pathway. Hope you enjoy reading it!

The wind howled as I walked up the winding path.Old, creaky trees reaching out to me like spiked claws. I shuddered at the thought of huge spiders crawling up the trees. Old, musty smells hit me as I walked deeper into the pathway. The trees whispered to each other behind my back. Old dying grass littered the pathway like rubbish. Mist floated around like ghost’s. I winced as they passed through  me. It was like walking into cold water.

This week we went to Auckland Zoo for a Zoofari. We slept in the old elephant house. The boys slept in Kashin's stall and the girls slept in Burma's stall. We saw lots of animals but my favourite were the spider monkeys. They are so cute! We had to do an animal report on an animal in the Auckland Zoo.
I chose the capybaras. I got a picture of them but unfortunately they were hiding from me! Here is a picture of the capybaras. Can you find them?

Onsie Day

Kia Ora.
Today we had an animal onsie day because we are fundraising for  the Year 1&2 zoo trip. Our group dressed up as rabbits.
 Rabbits are in the rodent family.
More than half of the world's rabbits live in North America.

Hook Paragraphs

Last week we did some hook paragraphs.
We all had to choose three pictures from the six pictures that the teachers chose. My group is: Rico, Nero and Alexis. So here is my post.

Have you ever gone on a horse adventure before? Horses neighed noisily as we galloped up towards the steep hills.  I shrieked like a hyena as my horse bucked me off. Thud!!

I would like to show you my animation about my chimera. (that's an animal that is a part of 3 different animals), but first I would like to tell you what it is all about. There is an animal that is part horse, bird and has a human face. She names herself Nifling. She goes on an adventure to the meadows and gets caught. Meanwhile her friend, Vine wolf, noticed that she was gone so he tries to find her. When he does they both gallop away from the meadows.  And they both lived happily ever after.

Lit quiz

Kia ora fellow bloggers!

Just wanted to tell you about yesterday. Yesterday it was the lit quiz, luckily I got\ to it. There was Ohaeawai 1 and Ohaeawai 2. I was in Ohaeawai 1. The people who were in my group was, Braeden, Mia, Kirsten and me. The people who were in the other group were, Jess, Lani, Willow and Luke. Group one got 20 out of 29 groups! Group 2 got 29 out 29 groups.  We were against year 7 and 8's. There was a man who asked questions and all the teams had to write the answers on a sheet of paper. I answered most of the Roald Dahl book questions.  Also, there were 100 people there!

My Horse of the Year diary

 I couple of weeks ago I went to the Hawkes Bay show. It was my first time competing there. I watched it last year so I made a goal to ride there this year. I practised and practised then eventually I could go! This is my horse of the year diary. I competed on Tuesday and Friday. Hope you enjoy reading my post.

Maui post

Now I will post what I wrote on my computer about Maui. We had to write an argument about him. We wrote all about him and what he did.  This is what I did

Introduction: I believe that Maui is a great mythical hero.

Reason 1: My first reason is he pulled the North Island out of the sea so we wouldn’t be all stuck on the South island.

Reason 2: Secondly, he helped people by stealing fire from a witch.

Reason 3: His father was a god and his mother was a human so that makes him a demi-god.

Conclusion: So, when he helped the people by stealing fire from a witch to help them keep warm and pull up the North Island, that shows why I think Maui is a great mythical Hero.
